Preparing to Teach in Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)
Course Overview
This course will provide you with some of the basic essential skills required to enter teaching or training in the Lifelong Learning Sector/Post Compulsory Education. You will learn about planning, delivering teaching, legislative requirements and assessment, and build up your confidence in these core skills. This is an ideal foundation if you are considering or starting a career in teaching 14-19 year olds and adults. PTLLS is also the start point in achieving a full teaching qualification under the framework for qualifying to teach in this sector. The classes provide a supportive and encouraging environment for potential teachers wishing to find out if this is the career for them. The qualification meets the basic statutory requirements for beginning to teach in this sector of education.
Course Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this PTLLS teaching qualification training course, but candidates must have a qualification or experience in their subject skill at the appropriate level. Due the nature of the course candidates should have the ability to manage the requirements including, reading and interpreting written assignments, ability to write answers in a legible and understandable form. Candidates will normally need to be able to organise written information clearly in order to gain this qualification.

Assessment:
Candidates will be assessed based on a series of reflective journals and a final assignment which includes a 15 minute micro-teaching session as well.
